Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK, indeed the world. Though considering over 600,000 people in the UK have macular disease, there’s a vast lack of knowledge of it amongst the public.
The Macular Society helps those affected by macular disease and helps fund research to find a cure. The charity needed a smart and distinctive idea to cut-through in the compassion-fatigued world of charity advertising. One that would raise awareness of both the condition, and the charity, and stand up alongside the big spenders.
We created Mac the macula, to tell the story of macular disease poignantly, endearingly, and as it had never been told before. We needed to bring Mac to life in an animated film and TV commercial on a limited budget.
Hey, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
They shared our enthusiasm for Mac and were only too pleased to bring him to life, squeezing out every penny of our limited budget to produce a beautiful film with stunning production values that we, and our client loved.
OUR CAMPAIGN RAN ACROSS TV, PRESS, RADIO, DIGITAL AND DIRECT MAIL. SINCE WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THE MACULAR SOCIETY, AWARENESS OF MACULAR DISEASE HAS INCREASED BY 7%.
